After visiting the Canyon, going from Ricks Reef to the Canyon is perfectly suited as the second dive of the day. You will assemble your equipment already at the canyon, then we'll drive the short way to the entrance of Ricks Reef by jeep. Put on your BC, do the buddy check and jump right in! Once again we will start from the beach. Please take care here: the stones can be quite slippery!
With the reef to our right we will begin this fascinating dive. A combination of hard corals and lots of sandy sections not only offers diversity but also the chance to see lots of different underwater creatures. Lion fishes, moraines, stone fishes, blue spotted rays... and even turtles might cross your path! By the way, on this tour we usually do not go below a maximum depth of 18 meters. After approximately 30 minutes we will arrive at the so-called Fish Bowl which marks the beginning of the Canyon. You can now observe what you had already seen at your first dive, but from a completely different angle. Watch closely – often small shrimps are hiding in the crevices!
The safety stop of this dive will once again take place around the beautiful coral block at the entrance of the lagoon. Keep in mind to deflate your BC here in order to avoid floating to the surface and being caught in a potential current. In case the current coming from the lagoon is too strong, you can also hold on to the dead corals for support while diving over the edge of the reef, however, please make sure to not touch living organisms. Corals are very sensitive creatures and furthermore there are often stone fishes hanging around this place.
